PHS: Public Health Scotland

Formed in April 2020 and succeeding NHS Health Scotland, Health Protection Scotland and Information Services Division, Public Health Scotland is Scotland’s lead national agency for improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of the Scottish population PHS is an NHS Special Board and is jointly sponsored by COSLA and the Scottish Government and collaborates across the public and third sectors.providing advice and support to local government and authorities. It comprises four directorates: Directorate of Data Driven Innovation; Directorate of Board Clinical and Protecting Health; Directorate of Place and Wellbeing; and Directorate of Strategy, Governance and Performance. Areas of work include: data, guidance and programmes of work relating to COVID-19 and immunisations; information and resources to help tackle poverty and substance abuse in Scotland; meeting Scotland's Public Health Priorities; improving services; protecting health; and sharing data and intelligence to protect and improve the health of the population of Scotland.
