NHS Health Innovation South-East Scotland

Health Innovation South East Scotland (HISES) is an Innovation Test Bed set up by the Scottish Government Chief Scientists’ Office which forms part of national network created to deliver the Government’s vision to utilise the innovation process to deliver a healthier and wealthier nation for the future. Formed through a collaboration of three NHS Boards— Borders, Fife and Lothian, with the latter taking on the role of lead host Board, HISES has a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions to the health and social challenges, both regionally and nationally.

NES: National Digital Platform

Provided by NHS: National Education for Scotland, the National Digital Platform (NDP) is designed to make it simpler to deliver technology that improves the care and wellbeing of people in Scotland. The platform will provide a standard infrastructure and re-usable components to support the connectivity of systems used in digital services and developers in deploying cloud software. Features include an infrastructure for deploying and monitoring solutions, an API capability, a development framework, a service catalogue and storage

NSS: HIAP Scotland - Health Innovation Assessment Portal

HIAP was designed to encourage prospective providers of new and/or innovative products and solutions to showcase them and access information and advice and initial assessment of the new product or technology. A new service, Scotland Innovates, builds on the success of the Health Innovation Assessment Portal (HIAP), expanding the submission and assessment of innovative products and solutions across the entire Scottish Public Sector.

The NHS West of Scotland Innovation Hub supports health and social care innovation across the West of Scotland and seeks to address key challenges to improve health, social care and service delivery by: co-designing, co-developing and co-delivering health and social care innovation in the West of Scotland; providing end to end support, from conception to procurement; supporting innovation that addresses key challenges to improve health, social care and service delivery.

Test Bed Innovation Model

The Test Bed Innovation Model brings together three regional areas in Scotland that are committed to delivering the CSO Service Level Agreement Priorities of: 1) creating additional capacity with industry, academia and others to run open innovation challenges; increasing the quality of industrial innovation collaboration projects to deliver solutions to health and social care strategic priorities, whilst also delivering economic growth; providing support for academic-led Triple Helix open innovation collaborations.

NHS Grampian Innovation Hub

The Innovation Hub’s primary role is to provide strategic and operational leadership across NHS Grampian for innovation activity. It is most concerned with innovation activity focused on the development of ideas, testing prototypes, and evaluating products in real life clinical environments. In almost all cases, projects and programmes relate directly to significant healthcare delivery challenges, usually aligned with a national or local strategic priorities. Major areas of activity include medical technology devices and data science.
