HIS - Health Improvement Scotland: Scottish Health Technologies Group

Within the remit of Health Improvement Scotland, SHTG is a national health technology assessment (HTA) agency. It provides evidence, support and advice to NHSScotland on the use of new and existing health technologies which are not medicines and which are likely to have significant implications for people's care.

NHS Goldern Jubilee

NHS Golden Jubilee is Scotland’s only national NHS Board with its own National Hospital, Research Institute, Innovation Centre and Conference Hotel. NHS Golden Jubilee is unique within the NHS, independently run by its own NHS Board. It is helping to re-define the concept of the public hospital, with a vision of “Delivering care through collaboration” for NHSScotland.

NSS - National Services Scotland: National Services Division

A Strategic Business Unit of National Services Scotland, the National Services Division undertakes the planning, commissioning and coordination of high-quality, person-centred specialist services, networks and screening programmes for the population.

NSS - National Services Scotland: National Procurement & Logistics

A Strategic Business Unit of National Services Scotland, National Procurement & Logistics undertakes buying and supplying items for Scotland's hospitals and health centres. Its remit also includes the Health Innovation Assessment Portal  (HIAP) where innovators can submit their innovation and have it assessed.  

NRS: NHS Scotland Research: Mental Health Network

NRS Mental Health was set up in 2009. Funded by the Chief Scientists Office (CSO) the primary aims of the network are to: increase the amount of high-quality clinical research in Mental Health in Scotland; and to increase the number of people participating in Mental Health research studies in Scotland.

NRS - NHS Research Scotland: West Regional Node

A network of Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs) within Scotland provide a purpose-built environment for patient-oriented research. They provide access to cutting-edge clinical facilities and opportunities for research scientists to work closely with clinical researchers, and support the advancement of new therapies and treatments for patients. Local delivery, development and governance of clinical research is achieved through regional nodes working within NHS Boards to provide support across Scotland.

NRS - NHS Research Scotland: Biorepositories

Each NRS Regional Node hosts a Biorepository that holds responsibility for tissue governance for their partner board and supports and facilitates access to surplus diagnostic and surgical tissue for use in research. These nodes form a network of Biorepositories designed to encourage the use of tissue in research and boost the availability of tissue from across Scotland.
